Shop Spotlight: Mt. Hood 26

  • Mt. Hood 26 was originally started in Rhododendron, Oregon back in 1993 by Josh Linn, Gabe Linn, and their father. The shop also included Jason Hutchins, Josh Frazier, Griffin Cummings, and other Mt. Hood locals. Snowboarding legends hung out there; like Marc Franc Montoya, Devun Walsh, Todd Richards, and many more. It was a great place to hang out, had a skate ramp out back, and had a super cool vibe. Then sometime around 1996 the doors closed and it wasn't until Tim Snail and Scotty Conerly partnered up and re-opened the shop at a new Welches, OR location in 2011. The Re-opened Mt. Hood 26 created a good following with the locals and re-created a great vibe around Mt. Hood.  However; due to increased work loads in each of their respective professions, the managing owners reluctantly sold the shop to another owner that could focus on retail.10946644_798264883581888_46746844_n
Unfortunately, the shop had trouble keeping the doors open and shut down late in 2013. The closing left a large hole in the core of the local snowboard, skate, and ski scene. It became very apparent that this community needed a core shop that we could all believe in and could support all the great snowboarders, skaters, and skiers who are passionate about shredding Mt. Hood. After a lot of consideration; we are proud to announce that Mt. Hood 26 is back and has a new Government Camp location, new owners, and employees dedicated to keeping this historic shop as an inaugural part of the Mt.Hood community.
Jerry and Robert Kropacek who are co-owners of The Glacier Haus Bistro in Government Camp decided to get the shop going again! Both Jerry and Robert grew up on Mt. Hood and believe in the brand and the community. Managing the day to day operations of the shop is Kyle 'Roundhouse' Sullivan whom is passionate about snowboarding. Kyle was a competitive snowboarder, a coach at Windells Camp for several years, and currently a 2016 snowboard tester for  He brings numerous retail store experience and is dedicated to making sure the shop is full of great product, has a cool vibe, and supports the local shred community. While former owner Scotty Conerly will act as the shop's marketing consultant overseeing the branding.

The response to the re-opened shop has been immediate and positive, despite the lower than usual snow levels; with brands like: Slash, NOW, Endeavor, Dakine, Howl, Creature, Independent, Spitfire, OneBall Jay, Neff, Gnarly, INI Cooperative D-Day, Wouldshop Skates,  and the local support of the vibe is extremely positive and only getting better. The shop will be focusing a bit more on the skateboarding side of things this summer once Windells, High Cascade, and Mt Hood Summer Snowboard Camps all start rolling into town but the on-snow side will never be neglected, in fact, it has plans to expand and carry ski products in addition to the core snowboarding line the shop has been known for in the past.
