If you have your eye on a specific board, you can wait until the following year to get the board for close to half off whole sale at most places.

Try not to go to corporate businesses like Dick's or Sports Authority because they sales people usually cant give you any deal...if there is a sales person. However, the benefit to buying at a store like REI.com or Backcountry.com their warranty policies. Here are a couple videos showing their return policies in effect but just not that Backcountry doesnt tell you that if you abuse their return policy they will black list you from doing it again and REI has recently made some adjustments to their policy since the making of this video. If you are looking to buy online, find a company that does free shipping. Shipping costs a ton when it comes to boards and skis so you save quite a bit if you go that route. When you are shopping, call these places you find online and ask them if that is the best deal they can give. Places like REI, Proctor's, Backcountry, EMS, Peter Glenn's, and Tactics all provide free shipping over the amount of $48-50 bucks which will account for every snowboard they make.
WORK AT THE HILL
Working at certain mountains will allow you to buy snowboards at pro form prices. This is a great way to get sweet gear for cheap and a season's pass for free.
HIT YOUR CITY'S EXPO
Ski and snowboard expos are full of last year's gear that companies need to get rid of gear fast. This is a great place to talk to knowledgeable people and get great deals on last years stuff.
